MC: Hallo Anne! Du kommst ursprünglich aus Frankreich. Woher aber kommst du genau?
MC: Hello, Anne! Originally, you come from France. Where, exactly. are you from?
ANNE MANDRELLA: Hallo! Ich bin geboren in Besançon. Das ist die Region de Doubs an der Grenze zum französischen Jura. Nicht weit von Genf entfernt.
MC: Was hat dich inspiriert zum Musical zu gehen?
AM: Die Verbindung von Tanz, Gesang und Schauspiel. Diese drei Teile haben mich immer sehr beeindruckt. Ursprünglich habe ich mit Tanz begonnen, aber ich war dafür etwas zu groß.
MC: Wann und wo war dein erster professioneller Auftritt?
AM: Mein erstes großes Engagement war hier am Raimund Theater die Cha-Cha in GREASE. Das liegt auch schon 10 Jahre zurück.
MC: Wann hast du das erste Mal von WAKE UP gehört?
AM: Ich glaube, das war vor zwei Jahren, da habe ich bereits an einer Auditionrunde teilgenommen. Damals war ich aber nicht in Wien und hatte eigentlich gar nicht so viel damit zu tun. Als es dann aktuell wurde, dass dieses Musical aufgeführt wird, war ich noch einmal bei einer zweiten Runde dabei.
MC: Bist du zu den Auditions eingeladen worden, oder hast du dich selbst dafür gemeldet?
AM: Ich bin ganz normal hingegangen, ich wurde nicht eingeladen.
MC: Wie hast du dich auf die Rolle der Lydia vorbereitet?
AM: Vorbereitet in dem Sinn hab ich mich nicht direkt. Ich habe nicht irgendwelche Studien über Luder gelesen. Da es ja eine Welturaufführung ist, hat man da eigentlich mehr oder weniger freie Hand! Man kann die Rolle mitgestalten.
MC: Wie war die Probenarbeit?
AM: Die Proben waren sehr lustig. Da man ja auch selbst die Chance hat, etwas selbst zu verändern und ein bisschen mehr mitzureden, das ist auch sehr spannend.
MC: Hast du eine Lieblingsszene in WAKE UP?
AM: Die Szene, die ich sehr gerne mag, ist die Dreier-Szene im Gefängnis, wo ich mit Jeff Ronny im Gefängnis besuche. Ich mag sie, weil es mehr eine Comedy-Szene ist.
MC: Wie unterscheidet sich die Arbeit mit Rainhard Fendrich von der mit Erwin Windegger?
AM: Die Probenzeit mit Rainhard war länger, was für Erwin natürlich schwerer ist, da er ja in ein fertiges Stück reinpassen muss. Beide sind gut, mit beiden ist es super zu spielen. Es ist unterschiedlich, weil jeder anders ist. Rainhard ist mehr der Entertainer und Erwin ist mehr der Schauspieler.
MC: Hast du vor der Vorstellung noch Lampenfieber?
AM: Nein, eigentlich nicht. Vielleicht ein paar Sekunden vor dem Auftritt und vor Premieren bin ich schon nervös.
MC: Gibt es irgendwelche Pannen, an die du dich erinnerst?
AM: Irgendwie gibt es bei WAKE UP keine Pannen. Da ja sehr viel von Hand geschoben wird, kann hier auch nicht viel passieren, da das ja auch sicherer ist als mit dem Computer. Aber zum Beispiel bei BEAUTY AND THE BIEST sind ständig irgendwelche Pannen passiert.
MC: Was machst du, wenn du den Text vergisst?
AM: Wenn man ein Blackout hat, dann kann man eigentlich gar nichts machen. Es gibt einen Trick, der bei Liedern leicht anzuwenden ist, wenn dir zum Beispiel der eine Satz nicht einfällt, sag irgendwas, das fällt den Besuchern kaum auf. Die Besucher denken dann, sie hätten für eine Minute nicht richtig hingehört, aber dann ist es auch schon vorbei.
MC: Glaubst du, dass WAKE UP auch in anderen Städten Erfolg haben könnte?
AM: Wenn man das Stück ein wenig ändert, könnte ich mir schon vorstellen, dass es auch in anderen Städten Erfolg haben könnte. Aber man müsste es ein wenig umschreiben, da es ja schon sehr auf Rainhard und auf Österreich geschrieben ist.
MC: Hast du eine Traumrolle, die du gerne spielen würdest?
AM: Eine Rolle, die ich gerne spielen würde, wäre Sally Bowles in CABARET. Eine Rolle, die mir auch gut gefällt, ist die Quennie in WILD PARTY, die ich im Sommer in Amstetten spiele. Bisher meine Lieblingsrolle war in CHICAGO die Roxie.
MC: Gibt es einen Traumpartner, mit dem du gerne auf der Bühne stehen möchtest?
AM: Ja, mit meinem Mann. (Drew Sarich, d.Red.)
MC: Und außer Drew?
AM: Da hab ich mir eigentlich keine Gedanken gemacht. Ich glaube, es gibt viele gute Darsteller, die man eigentlich gar nicht kennt.
MC: Wie gefällt dir Wien?
AM: Sehr gut. Ich wohne jetzt schon seit 10 Jahren hier und habe auch seit 5 Jahren meine Wohnung in Wien.

ANNE MANDRELLA: Hello! I was born in Besançon. This is the region of Doubs on the border of French territory. Not very far from Geneva.
MC: What inspired you to go into musical theatre?
AM: The mixture of dance, song and theatre. These three components have always impressed me very much. Originally, I began with dance, but I was a little bit too tall for it.
MC: When and where was your first professional appearance?
AM: My first big engagement was here in the Raimund Theater as Cha-Cha in GREASE. This also already dates back 10 years.
MC: When did you first hear of WAKE UP?
AM: I believe, this was two years ago, that I had already taken part in an Audition round. At that time, however, I was not in Vienna and did not actually work all that much with it. When it became certain then that this musical was to be performed, I presented myself once again with the second round.
MC: Had you been invited to the Auditions, or you have presented yourself for it?
AM: I have gone quite normally, I was not invited.
MC: How have you prepared for the role of the Lydia?
AM: I do not have a sense of having prepared directly. I did not read any studies about this minx. Actually, because this is a world premiere, one has here more or less free hand! One can mold the role.
MC: How were the rehearsals?
AM: The rehearsals were very fun. It was also very exciting because one has the chance to change bits and pieces independently and to join in the conversation a little bit more.
MC: Do you have a favorite scene in WAKE UP?
AM: The scenes which I like very much are the three scenes in the prison where I visit with Jeff Ronny in jail. I like them because they are the more comedic scenes.
MC: How does working with Rainhard Fendrich differ from Erwin Windegger?
AM: The rehearsal time with Rainhard was longer, which is harder for Erwin, of course, because he must go into an already established part. Both are good; with both it is played excellently. It is different because everybody is different. Rainhard is more the entertainer and Erwin is more the actor.
MC: Do you still get stage fright before a performance?
AM: No, actually, not. Maybe a few seconds before the performance and before premières I am quite nervous.
MC: Are there some technical malfunctions which you remember?
AM: With WAKE UP, there aren't any malfunctions. Because so much here is pushed by hand, it cannot happen a lot, since this is more reliable than with the computer. But, for example, with BEAUTY AND BEAST, several malfunctions have happened constantly.
MC: What do you do if you forget the text?
AM: If one has a blackout, one can do nothing at all, actually. There is a trick which can be applied with songs easily. If, for example, one sentence does not occur to you, say something, and it barely strikes the visitors. Then even if the visitors think that this should not belong here, then it is also over already.
MC: Do you believe that WAKE UP could also succeed in other towns?
AM: If one changes the piece a little, I would imagine that it could also succeed in other towns. But one would have to finetune it a little, because it is written very much for Rainhard and on Austria.
MC: Do you have a dream role which you would love to play?
AM: A role which I would play with pleasure would be Sally Bowles in CABARET. A role which I also like very much is Quennie in THE WILD PARTY which I play in the summer in Amstetten. Up to now my favorite role has been Roxie in CHICAGO.
MC: Is there a dream partner with whom you would love to share the stage?
AM: Yes, with my man. (Drew Sarich, Ed.)
MC: And other than Drew?
AM: I actually have not thought about that. In fact, I believe that there are many good actors whom one does not know at all.
MC: How do you like Vienna?
AM: Very much. Right now, I have lived herer for 10 years already, and I've also had my own apartment in Vienna for 5 years.
